These "stick" or "twig" figures are inspired by the work of sculptor Joseph Wheelwright, whose studio I studied in for many years, until his passing in 2016. (Independently, it turned out that Joe got his manzanita wood from his annual trips to the Southwest, while I get mine from trips to the Lake Tahoe area in northern CA.)
